Reisebericht Zypern

Wir wollten nochmals dem Herbst entfliehen, etwas Sommer schnappen und doch nicht so lange im Flieger sitzen. Zypern solls richten und so fliegen wir nach 9 Jahren zum zweiten Mal auf die Aphrodite Insel im Mittelmeer...

In der Swisslounge gibts Frühstück, denn der Flieger hebt schon um 11 Uhr Richtung Osten ab, wo wir knapp 4 Stunden später ankommen. Durch die Zeitverschiebung ist es schon 16 Uhr und jetzt noch eine 90 Minuten Fahrt bis nach Paphos an der Westküste der Insel...

Der Reiseveranstalter hat uns sauber einen VIP Shuttle im Mercedes organisiert
und so reisen wir stilvoll in Richtung Westen.

Ich habe mich lange zuvor mit der Frage der richtigen Unterkunft gequält,
doch ich glaube die richtige Wahl getroffen zu haben.

Im Elysium Resort angekommen geht gerade die Sonne unter.
Ein Schauspiel welches wir von unserem Balkon wunderschön beobachten können :-)

Das 5-Sterne Haus im Stil eines mediterranen Palastes bietet eine umfangreiche, imposante Infrastruktur. Bild links das Atrium, Mitte die Eingangshalle.

Im Royal Garden befinden sich grosszügige Studios und Poolvillen. Gäste dieser Kategorie können sich einem exklusiven Poolbereich (neben ihrem eigenen) erfreuen.

Insgesamt verfügt das Elysium über 250 Zimmer, Studios, Suiten und Villen...

Die Anlage ist ein Traum. Doch das wissen wohl nicht nur wir!

Das Elysium verfügt über 5 Restaurants. Die zwei Buffets sind okay.
Das Fleisch oft etwas "well done". Die Salate jedoch sehr fein.

Etwas gediegener gehts im Mediterraneo zu und her. Das Essen hier ist sehr gut.

Am nächsten Tag gehts mit dem Mietwagen Richtung Polis. Das kleine Nest ist ganz nett.

Wir trinken frisch gepressten Orangensaft und geniessen das hier und jetzt.
Über Lakki (nicht sehenswert) fahren wir Richtung Baths of Aphrodite.

Das soll eine grosse Touristen Attraktion von Zypern sein - Es handelt sich jedoch nur um eine Wasserquelle die vom Parkplatz in 5 Minuten erreichbar ist...

Aphrodite ist auf Zypern vielerorts zu Hause...

Gegen den späteren Nachmittag sind wir wieder zurück im Hotel
und lassen den Tag am Pool ausklingen.

Am nächsten Tag stelle ich fest, dass es auch auf dieser Insel Idioten gibt.
Weiss nicht wie der sich gedacht hat dass ich hier noch einsteigen soll...

Aber eben mitdenken ist nicht jedermanns Sache und so fahren wir heute nach meinen Kletterkünsten doch noch ins Troodos Gebirge zum höchsten Berg der Insel.

Unser Portier gab mir den Tipp einen Halt in Omodos einzulegen und da lag er goldrichtig.

Wunderschönes Dörfchen, zwar nur für die Touristen herausgeputzt aber was solls.
In der Nebensaison gefällt mir das ganz gut ;-)

Es wird alles verkauft was der Touri nach Hause schleppen könnte...
Auch wir sind dem Rausch verfallen und kaufen Inselhonig.

Dann wechselt plötzlich die öde Busch-Landschaft und weicht einem Tannenwald. Wir sind auf über 1600m und es ist merklich kühler hier oben. Man könnte Wanderungen machen aber damit hab ichs ja nicht so... Mir ist lieber der Motor wandert für mich :-)

Kirchen gibt es auch viele hier auf Zypern. Eine ganz besondere dürfen wir nicht verpassen, meinte der Portier und so nehmen wir den beschwerlichen Weg nach Kykkos auf uns.

Hier steht das grösste (oder bedeutendste?) Kloster der Insel. Leider ist es ziemlich ab vom Schuss, der Tag schon ziemlich fortgeschritten und die Strassen eine wahre Mühseligkeit die auf den Magen schlägt.

Ich schaffe es nicht mehr bei Tageslicht nach Paphos zu kommen. Strassen werden hier urplötzlich und ohne Vorwarnung zu Wegen. Wege werden zu Kieselpfaden und irgenwann will man umkehren um wieder festen Boden unter den Reifen zu bekommen.
So vergeht die Zeit...

Ein weiteres Touristenmagnet liegt quasi direkt vor unserer Haustür. Die Tombs of the Kings!

Bei besten Lichtverhältnissen und halbwegs erträglicher Temperatur besichtige ich die unzähligen Gräber aus dem 4. Jahrhundert, welche übrigens nie für Könige "genutzt" wurden. Aber so klingt es wahrscheinlich besser...

Das Areal liegt direkt am Meer und ist sehr weitläufig.

der sich sehen lassen kann.

Doch auf Zypern kann es übrigens auch anders. Was wir am letzten Ferientag erleben mussten. Plötzlich ziehen schwarze Wolken auf die niemand ernst zu nehmen schien. Kurze Zeit später giesst es wie aus Kesseln.

Doch schon 2 Stunden später - erneut ein wunderschöner Sonnenuntergang :-)

Es war schön noch einmal eine Woche Sommer zu erleben,
doch eben leider nur eine Woche...
